"I`m Not Me Without You" / Myriwaka
Song lyrics, added: 5/9/2008, Sadness

Lyrics by: Myriwaka
Inspired by: Family - War
Viewed: 2086 times

Tonight I say a prayer for you
And wish the war was done
Cause deep inside this heart of mine
I wage a war of one

Our son is growing up another
Day without you near
He says he’s brave like daddy is
And never shows his fear

But deep inside his distant gaze
I see a child so meek
And though his hand is strong in mine
His other hand is weak

Chorus
Baby I hurt, this pain I feel
I hope it’s not too long
I’m trying to be the two of us
But a part of me is gone
The life we had was put on hold
And one is left from two
I`ll do my best to carry on but
I’m not me without you

Last night he said your name again
So gently in his dreams
A sign that he’s still hanging in
I hope that’s what it means

And everyday he tells me that
He knows why you are gone
Looks at me with eyes of yours
And promises to be strong

So tonight I go to bed again
With loneliness and fear
And every prayer begins and ends
With "wishing you were here"

Chorus
Oh baby I hurt, my pain is real
I hope it’s not too long
I’m trying to be the two of us
But a part of me is gone
The life we had was put on hold
And one is left from two
I’ll do my best to carry on but
I’m not me without you

Well first of all i was almost certain i would never reach this comment box because there are so many other comments lol Anyways i`m not even gonna say how good it is, just combine a little bit of everything that everyone else has said and that should sum it up, except for this: 5 stars! Good show Mark, very good show indeed.

Hey Jace,

Wow... thanks. I appreciate the kind words.

Many of those 1500 are probably friends and family just trying to make me feel good.

There are several other members with 1000+ views that are probably more legit then mine ;-)

Thanks again, all the same.

Now I need someone who can write music to pick up a couple of my songs.

Cheers!

Mark

You are able to accomplish what every lyricist tries to in a song. You are pretty much a god on this site over 1500 views, impressive i must say.

Hi Kenzie,

Thank you for the compliment.

What do you mean by "You should write another one"?

Another song on this topic or just more lyrics?

I have about 8 lyrics posted if you click on my profile.

I did just finish another war/soldier/love lyric but have not posted it yet.

I`ll take a read of your work tonight.

Take care,

Mark

Hi Alex,

Thank you for the compliment and the advice. Do you have an example of what you might do to improve one of the lines in my song?

Thanks!

Just a little editing and you have a very strong lyric here... and most of the editing is just pentameter with your rhyming and syllables... very good though...a

Very simple lyrics that touch the heart in a strong way.
