I feel it`s gonna rain
I can see it in your eyes...
his memory must be blowing in
I feel the chill
of that familiar wind...

You seem so far away
though you`re right here
by my side...
the sudden drop in temperature
makes my heart
so insecure...

Let me steal his thunder
be the shelter you run under...
the sunlight that cuts through
the cloudy day...
Let me dry away each teardrop
with all the love that I`ve got
It hurts to have your heart caught...
in another lovers` storm.

You sit and stir your coffee
let the darkness settle in...
while the love that you and I know
is slowly hidden by his shadow...

Time to put up your umbrella
light the fireplace...
Let me chase away this overcast
with a love that`s
strong enough to last...

Let me steal his thunder
be the shelter you run under
the sunlight that cuts through
the cloudy day...
Let me dry away each teardrop
with all the love that I`ve got
It hurts to have your heart caught
in another lovers` storm...

repeat chorus...

I feel it`s gonna rain
I see it in your eyes...

I relate to this song right now. Not to the exact backstory on it, but the general feeling, so I really appreciate it right now.

Alex,

This is a good lyric. Maybe a little tweaking but that is for the musicians to sort out when they wrap the music around the words.

Has this been put to music yet? I would love to hear it.

Take care,

Mark

You are very good at capturing the (entanglements) of relationships. Everyone at some time of their life find themselves in these kinds of situations. You are gifted when it comes to capturing them but I find this one a bit fragmented. Maybe it goes with the state of mind but your imageries are other wise very clear and powerful. (They are just not as smooth as some of your other lyrics)

saw your comment on another lyric, so I thought I`d take a look at your stuff. Agree that people seem resistant to commenting and it`s frustrating me too! But at least alot have people have at least looked at your stuff! Love this except for the line about the umbrella. When you put up barriers you block out everyone. And I`d love it if you set the fireplace into almost a full scene...but don`t be so hard on people, seems we have alot of teenagers and otherwise inexperienced with the editing process. I survived 6 creative writing seminars in college. Bring it on!

Hello everyone... I`ve had 10 writers look at this one and no comments. Guys and Gals... hate or like it, that why I put my songs on here. I`ve been in this business long enough to know how to take criticism, to welcome it and use it. I can get so tied up in what I feel is a great idea, that I may not flesh it out as well as I should. On the other hand, I might fall in love too much with a song and write way too many verses... I REALLY WANT YOUR OPINIONS AND IDEAS!!! No gloves, no holding back... If I`m not strong enough to take the good and the bad, then trust me... I am not strong enough to throw my hat back into the ring in Nashville. These are my sparring rounds before the big fight... throw some punches. My Mother died this last week, and my wife and I are just getting back from Mississippi to Branson,Mo. My wife pointed out the fact that my Mother loved the idea of me living in Branson because of the many musical opportunities I would have come my way. I`ve wasted the last two years after my songwriting partner Bob House died... I do not intend to waste any more time now that my Mother has passed away. I intend on making those who invested their love, time, and money, into me...pay off very soon. I need serious "CRITICS" to help me on my path. Thanks and Blessings, alx4asong
